An insight from conversation
Periodisation is a structured approach to physical training. It’s a principle that adjusts intensity, frequency, volume and load over specific periods to optimise performance and minimise the risk of injury.
It’s also applicable way beyond sport.
A client was recently in an intense work and study period. By accepting that, they were able to communicate proactively with loved ones and colleagues. Rather than resenting reality, they booked in time when this period ends as both a celebration and reconnection.
An action I’m taking
In Gestalt dream interpretation, each element of the dream is a part of you or your psyche. To understand each of the elements, you take the first person present perspective (I am, I feel etc) of that element and describe its thoughts, feelings and intentions towards the dreamer (you).
I’ve been experimenting using AI in voice mode to explore this technique. I describe the dream to ChatGPT and then have it ask me questions from the perspective of each of the dream elements. It’s led me to some clear, but not always comfortable, insights.
