A quote I’m pondering
Viktor Frankl was a survivor of three concentration camps, a psychologist and author of 12M+ copy bestseller: Man’s Search For Meaning. Rather than the age-old question: “What is the meaning of life?”, as though it is someone else’s responsibility to tell us, he preferred a different perspective.
His interpretation was that the world is asking you that question. And our work is to answer with our actions.
An insight from conversation
At a company planning day, team data showed that people at times felt disconnected from the purpose of their work.
A session was run to help people reconnect. One powerful story was about realising that the bus scheduling consulting they were doing was much more than that. In this developing nation, they realised that a reliable bus network would change the lives of local people currently walking kilometres to and from school each day. The impact on productivity and safety for parents and their children would be huge.
The connection was there but it needed to be uncovered.
Not all roles or work can save lives directly. Rather than expecting to take meaning, we can dig into the secondary and tertiary effects of what we’re doing to make the meaning we need.
An action I’m taking
To help my sore back, I’ve been loving the appropriately named hip opener: The World’s Greatest Stretch.

Is there one of these that really stood out for you? I’d love to hear your thoughts or suggestions whether that’s a favourite quote or something else.
I hope you have a great week ahead.
With love,
Toby
