Hi there,

Happy Monday!

Here’s your weekly dose of The Monday 3: a quote, an insight and an action I’m taking.

With love,

Toby

A quote I’m pondering

“Love isn’t saying, I love you, but calling to say, did you eat?”

Marlon James – Man Booker Prize winner of A Brief History of Seven Killings

An insight

In interpersonal situations where there’s a risk of conflict or feedback being taken the wrong way, it can be useful to describe behaviour as uncharacteristic or “not usually how you operate”.

Then, with genuine curiosity and empathy, you can seek to understand more of what is going on and why.

An action I’m taking

After having a wearable on my wrist for 2 years, I’ve learned a tonne from the experiments I’ve run on myself. I’ve decided to take it off for a while for a few reasons: to eliminate another stimulus for checking my phone; to tune into my own assessment of how my body is feeling; to take out another performative measure that leads to self judgement of being “good enough” or not. I’ll see how it goes.

Is there one of these that really stood out for you? I’d love to hear your thoughts or suggestions whether that’s a favourite quote or something else.

I hope you have a great week ahead.

With love,

Toby
