The Monday 3: Our deepest fear; Stop pushing through, Turn it on

Hi there,

Happy Monday!

Here is your weekly dose of The Monday 3: a quote, an insight and an action I’m taking from the last week.

I’d love you to share this with one person who might find it useful.

A quote I’m pondering

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us…

Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do…

It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

An insight from conversation

I took a Qld University of Technology Executive MBA cohort through my Reinventing Mindset workshop on the weekend. One of the questions from the group was: “How do I push through the doubts or anxiety when it comes to challenging situations?”

We need to stop trying to push through, break through, overcome or fight our fear, doubt, anxiety, regret or imposter syndrome. These thoughts and feelings are no longer the enemy but an experience to embrace.

The opportunity is to bring them with us into the room, stage, pool, field or conversation. With practice we can learn to harness them as an energy source when we need it most.

An action I’m taking

It’s been an emotional few days with the Olympics kicking off in Paris. So many memories flooding back from my time in Athens in 2004.

The action I’ve taken this week is to stop the TV boundaries and just turn it on. We brought the TV up from downstairs so it’s front and centre at our place for the next two weeks. We can do a screen detox when it’s done, but I’m loving watching all the events so far. I hope you are too!

++++++++++

Is there one of these that really stood out for you? I’d love to hear your thoughts or suggestions too.

I hope you have a great week ahead.

With love,

Toby
