Happy Monday!
Here’s your weekly dose of The Monday 3: a quote, an insight and an action I’m taking.
Also I’m stoked to announce my new event called Elevating Mindset Immersion (25 Nov).
It’s focussed on how the science of psychological flexibility can help leaders and their teams get clarity, align values and drive performance through growth and change.

A quote I’m pondering
Writing and reading decrease our sense of isolation. They deepen and widen and expand our sense of life: they feed the soul. When writers make us shake our heads with the exactness of their prose and their truths, and even make us laugh about ourselves or life, our buoyancy is restored. We are given a shot at dancing with, or at least clapping along with, the absurdity of life, instead of being squashed by it over and over again. It’s like singing on a boat during a terrible storm at sea. You can’t stop the raging storm, but singing can change the hearts and spirits of the people who are together on that ship.

An insight
Milestones like the end of the year or a birthday can often trigger reflection on what we might like or need to change. Periods of intense change like the looming of AI or health, relationship or work transitions can trigger the same.
At these points there is also an opportunity to reflect on what we don’t want to change.
What do we we know for certain we want to keep doing, spending time on, doubling down on? What values do we want to continue to bring to life?
In this way we can create our own internal anchor even when we have such little control of the world around us.
An action I’m taking
At 3:24am when I wake up and my mind is racing, regardless of what doomsday scenario is running around my head, I’m playing with lying completely still. It doesn’t make the racing more pleasant but I’ve noticed there is a certain satisfaction in recognising that I still have a choice of what I do.

Is there one of these that really stood out for you? I’d love to hear your thoughts or suggestions whether that’s a favourite quote or something else.
I hope you have a great week ahead.
With love,
Toby
