Hi there,

Happy Monday!

Here’s your weekly dose of The Monday 3: a quote, an insight and an action I’m taking.

A quote I’m pondering

I am an old man and have known a great many troubles, but most of them never happened.

Mark Twain

An insight

The battle between our positive and negative thoughts is infinite.

The research shows that our ratio of “positive” to “negative” thoughts changes significantly depending on our circumstances.

This makes sense when we consider that when we were living in caves, “negative” thoughts helped to keep us safe. The cave people that were happy-go-lucky didn’t last as long as those who worried and were vigilant for the dangers lurking outside.

Therefore “negative” thoughts are not only a part of life, but important to our survival. But a large part of the problem is our conditioning that tells us that “negative” thoughts are bad. That we shouldn’t have them. That something must be wrong with us.

Instead, when next you notice a “negative” thought or emotion – whether that’s anxiety, imposter, anger, frustration, sadness – ask yourself this:

Is there a kernel of truth in this thought that is useful?

If yes, take action.

If not, instead of struggling against the thoughts, try saying thanks to your mind for working hard to keep you safe.

An action I’m taking

I’ve enjoyed reading the detailed depths of this high performance culture doc from the world’s largest YouTube Creator, 26 year old, Mr Beast (434M+ subscribers).

Is there one of these that really stood out for you? I’d love to hear your thoughts or suggestions whether that’s a favourite quote or something else.

I hope you have a great week ahead.

With love,
