Hi there,
Happy Monday!
Here’s your weekly dose of The Monday 3: a quote, an insight and an action I’m taking.
__
A quote I’m pondering
Standardization before optimization. Make it the standard in your life, then worry about doing it better.
James Clear – Bestselling author of Atomic Habits
An insight
Values held too tightly can lead to rigidity – we start creating rules for ourselves and others: shoulds, musts, have-tos.
In order to build and maintain flexibility and adaptability, hold values lightly and pursue them vigorously.
An action I’m taking
Heart Rate Variability (HRV) measures the time in milliseconds between each successive heartbeat.
It reflects the balance between the autonomic nervous system’s “fight-or-flight” (sympathetic) and “rest-and-digest” (parasympathetic) branches.
A higher, more variable HRV generally indicates better fitness and recovery, while a lower HRV can suggest stress, illness, or overtraining.
While exploring HRV as a measure, I was recommended this book: The Body Keeps The Score: Mind, Brain and Body in the Transformation of Trauma by Bessel van der Kolk.
It’s a fascinating read.

Is there one of these that really stood out for you? I’d love to hear your thoughts or suggestions whether that’s a favourite quote or something else.
I hope you have a great week ahead.
With love,
Toby
