A quote I’m pondering

Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory. Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat.

Sun Tzu

An insight from conversation

Strategy requires knowing where we want to go then determining the action right now that leads towards it. It can be a challenge to clearly articulate and then take ownership of what we truly want.

It can also be a challenge to take stock and appreciate just how much we already have or how far we’ve already come.

An action I’m taking

We all strive to manage our time, priorities and energy. What are the systems that can support them? Typically calendar helps manage time and to-do lists (in their infinite variety) help manage priorities.

It’s a belated (and seemingly blindingly obvious) realisation that the wearable tech I have strapped on represents a system to help manage my energy. Sure it’s not perfect. But what are the inputs (sleep, activity, nutrition etc)? What are their impact? What does that mean to me? It can at least provide a feedback loop for my energy that goes beyond self-assessment.

Is there one of these that really stood out for you? I’d love to hear your thoughts or suggestions whether that’s a favourite quote or something else.

I hope you have a great week ahead.

With love,

Toby
