A quote I’m pondering

Notice that, while lots of people are happy to tell you about Golden Ages, nobody ever seems to think one is happening right now.

Maybe that’s because the only place a Golden Age can ever happen is in our memory.

An insight from conversation

Was that the right thing to do?

Because every context is different, it can be hard to say definitively if something is/was the right thing to do.

Perhaps there is a step missing from this question. Instead, we could ask What are your values? And then assess the action from that standpoint. Was it consistent with your values or not? If a similar situation arises in the future, what might you do differently? How could you act in a values-based way?

We won’t ever get it all “right”, but this to me seems to be the antidote to regret.

An action I’m taking

I’ve built a nice little Monday routine this year. I sit down at my local pool with a coffee and my laptop. I write this newsletter, clear out a bunch of important but not urgent tasks, plan my week and then hit the gym as a reward. It’s feeling good.

Is there one of these that really stood out for you? I’d love to hear your thoughts or suggestions whether that’s a favourite quote or something else.

I hope you have a great week ahead.

With love,
