A quote I’m pondering
People are always looking for the single magic bullet that will completely change everything. There is no single magic bullet. Progress is about bridging the gap between what we observe and what we can imagine — one careful step at a time.

An insight from conversation
My daughter’s swim coach made a comment to her in the middle of a tough part of her swim set: “I believe in you.”
On hearing this, she put in extra effort and surprised herself in the session. Then she put in the extra effort at swimming club the following week and surprised herself with some great times.
I told the coach about the impact of her comment.
I’d love to think we’ve all experienced this at some stage. (I’ve written about this previously in my Olympic inspiration story.)
It can be hard to see if or how our small comments can make a difference. In most instances we can never know.
But sometimes they’re the right words said to the right person at the right time.
An action I’m taking
I went away with my wife on the weekend. The traffic was awful, it poured with rain and the ocean was windy and wild. We had only 23 hours on our own, but it was a gift to take a breath and for the rain to force a pause. It was a great reminder not to wait for the “perfect time” and instead make the most of the opportunity at hand.

Is there one of these that really stood out for you? I’d love to hear your thoughts or suggestions whether that’s a favourite quote or something else.
I hope you have a great week ahead.
With love,
