Hi there,
Happy Monday!
Here is your weekly dose of The Monday 3: a quote, an insight and an action I’m taking.
I’m always working to grow my newsletter, so if there’s someone you think might enjoy these, I’d love you to share this with them. They can sign up here >>

A quote I’m pondering
A bowl is useful because it is moulded around emptiness, waiting to be filled.
Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching (This is my most re-read book.)
An insight from conversation
From public speaking to meetings to challenging 1:1 conversations, knowing a few things can help to make them useful interactions:
- If you could only choose one, what is the single thing you’d like others to take away from this interaction?
- What is your agenda? This dictates the flow.
- What are your opening and closing lines? Practicing your opening and closing line(s) is critical. Even if the script varies – which it nearly certainly will – you’ll know where you’re starting and where you’re going.
An action I’m taking
An action from coaching feedback is for me to work on my What, How and Why questions. I’ll give it additional focus in the weeks ahead to open up conversations rather shutting them down with questions that lead to yes/no answers. I’ll be practicing this everywhere: at work, at home, out and about. The questions we ask ourselves and each other matter so I’m looking forward to it.

Is there one of these that really stood out for you? I’d love to hear your thoughts or suggestions too.
I hope you have a great week ahead.
With love,
Toby
