A quote I’m pondering

Let everything you do be done as if it makes a difference.

William James

An insight from conversation

“Know the form, make the form, break the form” is a martial arts maxim to help understand the stages of learning.

We first learn what and how to do something, we practice it and then learn how to creatively adapt the form to changing circumstances and our own personal style.

In a similar vein, “Learn, do, teach” are sometimes presented as the three steps of learning.

We must first learn, then put that knowledge into action and finally, through teaching others, we clarify our own understanding in order to communicate and help them make progress.

Hence the teaching process becomes an important tool for refining our own learning in the nuance of any pursuit.

An action I’m taking

I had another incredible weekend with Surf Camp Down Under. 10 hours of surfing in 48, some great waves, beautiful conditions, best backhand turn of my life (according to my brother), barrelled, dolphins swimming under my board and awesome hang time with a great crew. My cup is full!

++++++++++

Is there one of these that really stood out for you? I’d love to hear your thoughts or suggestions too.

I hope you have a great week ahead.

With love,

Toby
