A quote I’m pondering
We are so accustomed to disguise ourselves to others, that in the end, we become disguised to ourselves.
Francois De La Rochefaucauld – French moralist
An insight from conversation
One of the most valuable conversations I had last week was with a friend talking about anger – specifically my own as a parent. The answer, which we’d both drawn separately, was perhaps the obvious but challenging one. The person in the mirror.
Rather than strategies for managing the kids, the real question is how am I managing myself?
How am I sleeping? How am I training? How does nutrition support or detract? What expectations did I have of myself? How am I making sure my tank is full to share with the people I care most about? How am I showing some self compassion and love?
Not necessarily easy to do and the work is never done.
I wish you (and me) some self-compassion this week.
An action I’m taking
Mindfulness is a three part practice. We focus on something, we drift with our thoughts, feelings, sensations, we noticed we’ve drifted and we come back to our focus.
I’m practising being mindful in my training by focusing on visuals like actually seeing the black line on the bottom of the pool as I swim or the resistance dial on an exercise bike.

Is there one of these that really stood out for you? I’d love to hear your thoughts or suggestions whether that’s a favourite quote or something else.
I hope you have a great week ahead.
With love,
